Institutions built to strengthen the African diaspora in Türkiye and deepen Africa–Türkiye engagement.

As the African population in Türkiye has grown, so too has the need for a permanent institution capable of representing its interests, connecting its communities, and engaging public institutions in a sustained way. Founded in 2023, Bizim Afrika serves as that platform. Through leadership development, community programmes, research, cultural initiatives, and institutional partnerships, it works to strengthen the voice and representation of Africans living in Türkiye while fostering closer Africa–Türkiye relations. Rather than existing only around events, Bizim Afrika is designed as a long-term institution that helps transform a diverse community into an organised civic actor.

Organised annually by Bizim Afrika, the African Diaspora Forum provides a structured space where diaspora leaders, government institutions, diplomatic missions, universities, civil society, and private sector representatives engage in dialogue on issues affecting African communities in Türkiye. Rather than isolated conversations, the Forum creates a shared agenda, encourages collaboration across organisations, and strengthens institutional engagement between Türkiye and African stakeholders.

The African Diaspora State Report was initiated to address a fundamental gap: the absence of reliable, community-driven knowledge about the African presence in Türkiye. Bringing together researchers, practitioners, and contributors from across the diaspora, the report provides data, analysis, and perspectives that support more informed public discussion, policymaking, and academic research. It serves as a lasting knowledge resource for institutions in both Türkiye and Africa.
